About Ambient Aging
A nurse-led team your family can lean on
Ambient Aging is a nurse-led care management team serving families across Pierce, Kitsap, and North Thurston Counties, and out-of-state families whose loved one lives here.
With your family the whole way
Led by a board-certified gerontological nurse
Serving Pierce, Kitsap, and North Thurston Counties

Who we are
We are a nurse-led team that coordinates the whole of an older adult’s care: the doctors, the medications, the home, and the decisions that keep coming.
Like ambient light, our work is meant to fill the whole space around your family quietly and steadily, setting a calmer tone over a season that can feel anything but calm.
Why we exist
For Amby Bowen, this work started long before it had a name. Her favorite person in the world was her grandmother, who passed away of Alzheimer’s, and she has siblings living with chronic illness and injury.
She knows that weight from the inside. Over years of advocating for vulnerable adults, she kept seeing good families left alone in a medical system never built to see the whole person.
What guides every decision
These hold whether we are with your family for years or for a single conversation.
We see the whole person, not one problem
Body, mind, history, relationships, and what makes a life feel like theirs, not just a chart.
We give families real attention
We listen closely and shape everything we do around what actually matters to you.
We work only for your family
We bring the clinical picture and the real options, then back the decision your family makes.
We stay as long as your family needs us
Whether that means support over years or guidance through a single crisis.
Meet Amby Bowen, RN, GERO-BC, CCM
Amby is a registered nurse who has spent her career at the side of aging adults and their families, from the trauma floor to the living room.
Her own daughter calls her a “professional daughter,” and it fits. She fights for the people in her care the way family would, with a nurse’s training and a loyalty to your family and your mother or father’s wishes, never to any facility, agency, or insurer.
She works with your family as a trusted advisor and a caring friend. She believes every person deserves to live by their own values and wishes as they age, and that aging is a normal, healthy part of a life still worth leading.

Amby’s credentials
Amby has spent more than twenty years advocating for vulnerable adults, and she has worked in geriatric care management since 2010. Her background includes trauma and acute care case management at a major regional hospital, over six years overseeing nurse and social worker care managers at a care management agency, and chronic care management experience with a Medicaid managed care plan. She continues her education with a focus on brain injury, brain disease, and geriatrics.
Registered Nurse, Washington State, since 2009

Questions families ask us
We are your guide and coordinator across everything aging touches: health, safety, home, providers, and decisions.
We assess the situation, build a plan with your family, bring in the right people, and advocate for what your loved one wants, so your family is not holding it all alone.
It does. Most care managers come from social work. Amby is a registered nurse, board certified in gerontological nursing.
That means she has the clinical training to:
Read the medical picture
Understand medications and how they interact
Recognize what a diagnosis really means day to day
Speak with doctors as a peer
The warmth is the same. The clinical depth underneath it is different.
We serve families throughout Pierce, Kitsap, and North Thurston Counties, including Tacoma, Gig Harbor, University Place, Puyallup, Lakewood, Bremerton, Silverdale, Port Orchard, and Lacey.
When a family lives out of state, we are the trusted local presence for their loved one here, and we offer online consultations in many states as well.
