Legal & Fiduciary Nurse Consulting
Sometimes the concern is not only medical. You are worried that someone you love is not getting the care they deserve, and you are not sure who to trust or what to do about it.
Or a court, a trust, or a guardianship is now involved, and someone has to understand your loved one’s health well enough to explain it clearly in writing.

Beyond the Medical
When the questions become legal, and the worry becomes real
These are stressful, high-stakes moments, and most families have never been in one before. This is a specialized part of our work, and a place where being a nurse changes what is possible. We bring clinical judgment to situations where a family’s word, on its own, is often not enough.
If one of these sounds familiar, a conversation is a good place to start.
A care consultation helps if
You suspect a loved one is not getting appropriate care from a family member, a guardian, or a facility.
A court has asked for, or would benefit from, a professional healthcare assessment of your loved one’s situation.
You are a legal guardian who needs clinical support, credible documentation, or help reporting to the court.
You fear someone is being financially exploited or pressured, and you need a careful, clinical set of eyes on the situation.
An attorney or fiduciary has suggested that the medical picture needs an expert to make sense of it.
How We Help
Support for courts, trusts, and guardians
When a legal question turns on your loved one’s health, we provide the clinical assessment and the written record that attorneys, guardians, and courts rely on.
We assess function and cognition
We complete a Comprehensive Functional and Cognitive Assessment and document what we find for your legal team. When it is needed, that includes a Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which Amby is licensed to give.
We support the petitions that release the funds
When what a trust budgeted no longer covers real medical and educational needs, we help prepare the petition that requests additional funds, backed by a nurse’s assessment of what is needed.
We give legal guardians clinical backing
We assess your loved one, explain what the medical picture means day to day, and prepare the reports the court expects.
Why a Nurse Matters
A court does not act on a worry. It acts on a documented, credible assessment
01
A clinical read, not a family account
When something seems wrong, we find out what is actually happening, quietly and carefully, through our own assessment of your loved one.
02
Credentials behind every assessment
Amby is a registered nurse, board certified in gerontological nursing, and a certified case manager whose work centers on medically complex adults.
03
A plan that makes the person safe
Finding the problem is only the start. We build a plan to keep your loved one safe, and document it so the court and your legal team can act on it.
What partners say
"What they do for families is unparalleled in this industry. The medical advocacy, care plan management and oversight, and knowledge of the resource network around them make them an unbelievable asset to families."
— Jake, Referral partner
Questions families ask us
Yes. This is much of what this part of our work is. Without evidence, often no one official steps in. We assess the situation carefully and clinically, document what we find, put safety measures in place, and report to the proper authorities when it is warranted.
Where there is a suspected bad actor, we do the detective work that a family, on its own, usually cannot.
It is a Comprehensive Functional and Cognitive Assessment: a documented look at how your loved one manages day to day, what their medical needs are, and whether those needs are being met. When it is needed, it includes a Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which Amby is licensed to give. A formal finding of capacity comes from a physician. Our assessment gives the physician, your attorney and the court a clear record to work from.
If a court, an attorney, or a guardianship is questioning whether your loved one is safe or well cared for, this is often what makes the picture clear and credible.
We help prepare the petitions that request additional trust funds for medical and educational needs when what was budgeted is no longer enough. Each one rests on our own assessment of what your loved one needs. It is detailed, documentation-heavy work that overwhelms most families, and we do it regularly.
Often it is the opposite. Attorneys and guardians frequently bring us in for the clinical side: to assess the medical picture, put it in everyday terms, document it credibly, and report to the court. We work alongside your legal team, not in place of it.
