Supporting Families From a Distance
When you live far from your aging mother or father, the worry never fully turns off. You catch yourself watching the phone. You replay the last conversation, wondering how they really are.
That is what distance takes from you, and it is what we give back. We are your presence here at home, the person who shows up, sees how your mother or father is truly doing, and makes sure you know what we know.
In-person welfare visits
We attend the appointments
Regular updates

Who This Is For
The son or daughter holding it together from far away
What this usually looks like
Often the one holding power of attorney, living in another city, state, or country while a mother or father ages here in Washington.
Frequently there is dementia in the picture, or a serious diagnosis, and a feeling that no one local really has eyes on things.
What We Do
A nurse on the ground, standing in for you
Someone who understands the medicine is watching over your mother or father the way you would.
Welfare visits
We check in on your mother or father in person and tell you how they are doing, not just what they say over the phone when they do not want you to worry.
Appointment advocacy
We attend medical appointments, ask the questions you would ask if you were in the room, translate what is said, and make sure your mother or father’s wishes are heard.
Regular reports
You get regular updates, so you are not piecing things together from hundreds of miles away.
We show up in an emergency
If your mother or father is hospitalized, we go to the hospital, advocate at the bedside, and keep you informed the whole way.
What that means
We are local, here in Pierce, Kitsap, and North Thurston Counties
We are clinically trained, so we can read what we are seeing
We are hired by your family, so you are who we answer to
You get the reassurance of a nurse here at the bedside and in the exam room when you cannot be.
What families say
"We were 3,000 miles apart. They were the boots on the ground for medical visits, shopping, or just some needed hand holding. I could not have gotten through the most difficult time in my life without their kind support."
— Pam, Family caregiver, out of state

Your mother or father is never facing it alone, and you are never guessing.
No, though many of the families we support this way do.
We will work with your family’s arrangement and make sure your mother or father’s wishes stay at the center of every decision.
